His music evolved from the hard core jazz scene, his roots lay within clubland Los Angeles during the early 1960's period. His predigree became thoroghbred during this period. His involvement with artists such as .....his early CV is certainly very impressive, but it doesn't stop here. We move into the early Seventies, the era that gave us some of his most well loved classsics. Those intoxicating funky rhythms of the 1970's became his most memorable. Let's not forget that he also produced some pumping dancefloor rhythms throughout the latter part of the Seventies and well into the late 1980's, his music has clearly stood the test of time amongst the tide of commercialism. His music has taken on many guises throught time, progressing from the disco period his music has always had elements of all types of popular music. His style touches many borders, the classic case of soul met R&B with a touch of hip hop flava thrown into that jazzy feeling. This brings us into the Nineties and beyond. His awareness of modern music is so apparent within his own music, that it is no real suprise that he is still involved in production of music and still touring worldwide destinations today, it is a great acheivement for someone in their Sixties. It has been mentioned on many occasions that he iis the most sampled jazz musician ever, only the music of James Brown and George Clinton could be matched for being sampled. A whole new generation of dance music lovers are now waking up to his unique sound and younger collectors of his music are on the hunt for his vinyl having heard a beat or break within a current hip hop, house or jazz-rap track. |

This artist has been doing his thing within the music industry for over 40 years and so much could have been told about his presence, nevertheless amongst his fans and peers his popular status is up there among other greats of Black Music such as longstayer James Brown, George Clinton and Stevie Wonder. The commercial world of jazz music has been getting more prominent by virtue of its fusion with the "latest" vibe, the sampler has been one of the main instruments of this era, but the computer is taking over....
